♦ Characteristics of Lithium-ion Polymer battery

 

* A large output of voltage :
The output operating voltage of lithium-ion battery is 3.7V
per cell that exceeds three times higher than that of Ni-Mh, Ni-Cd battery (1.2V per cell)

* Minimal Self-Discharge :
The self-discharge rate per month is less than 5% in an ambient temperature of 20c
degree centigrade that is one third of that of Ni-Mh and Ni-Cd battery.

* Eco-friendly battery :

Lithium-ion battery does not contain toxic metals such as cadmium and mercury.

* No memory Effect :
Lithium-ion battery has no memory effect, seen in Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, causes charging
capacity to be reduced by repeated charging and discharging to insufficient levels
so that the life span of lithium-ion battery is not influenced even though the battery is
discharged and recharged repeatedly at all times.

* Lower internal resistance :
Internal resistance is lower than other batteries due to applying a stacking method to
electrode accumulation.

* High Safety :
There are less possibilities of leakage and explosion due to using highly ion-
conducting electrolyte.

* Design flexibility :
A compelling advantage of Lithium-ion polymer battery can be specifically shaped to fit the device.
With all the above advantages over other secondary batteries, we expect that lithium-ion polymer battery will assure its successful application as a new energy solution in many areas of society.
